When we adopted Virgil from our local shelter, he had a picture on his kennel that said, “Please save my life!” My husband couldn’t stand the thought of this beautiful dog being put down so he rushed down and picked him up. He weighed a whopping 40 lbs and as you can see he was quite skinny. He had heartworm disease and had a tumor hanging from one of his legs. He was so sweet and thankful that we saved him. We’ve had him for more than three years now. Because we’re not sure how old he is, we assume he’s up in years and he now has a bad case of hip displasia. He’s quite the talker, and the nurses at the PetSmart Vets office LOVE IT when he comes in for an exam. He makes good company. Virgil has now gained about 35 lbs and looks very healthy.

It’s amazing how, somehow, they know when they’ve been saved, don’t they?
