I have an 18 year old Lhasa Apso. Bath time is a bit more difficult now compared to ten years ago. My best tip is to start from the paws and work your way up, my dog prefers lukewarm water and I use non-perfume/dye shampoos. He loves the blow dryer and runs and scampers like a pup after bath time is over!

I have to give my indoor cat a bath every so often to cut down on the dander that builds up. She knows whats comming when the bathroom door shuts but she's gotten better about not biting or scratching during the bath. I start the shower and hold her in my arms(old t-shirt/shorts). Talking and moving quickly are great soothers as well as holding her tight to make sure she feels secure. Then she gets all wrapped up in a big ol towel to warm up some and to squeegie off most of the water. Then I let her go and hide and dry off on her own since she's none to happy. The end result is a nice clean fluffy cat that smells good!

I have two puppies that are ten weeks old and they needed a bathe due to the rain and snow that they love to run around in when the go out to potty. I found it is much safer to bath them in the tub. I put on shorts and kneel in the tub with them to make them more comfortable. It works better than having them try to jump out of the kitchen sink.
