On Saturday, Nov. 8, nearly twenty local volunteers from Banfield gathered at the Portland Trail Blazers game to collect Pet food and monetary donations, as part of our third Season of Suppers campaign. This national campaign, which is part of our goal to build stronger communities by helping Pets and their families, aims to help make sure seniors and their Pets don’t go hungry during this holiday season.Season of Suppers began three years ago after realizing that many homebound seniors were compromising their nutrition by sharing their once-a-day meal from Meals on Wheels with their Pet(s).

During Saturday’s game, our volunteers worked hard to gather donations to support Portland-area Pet feeding programs as part of this campaign. Blazers fans responded generously by helping us to raise several hundred dollars and to collect dozens of bags of Pet food. Chip Sammons, vice president of Friends Involved in Dog Outreach - or FIDO – spoke to the crowd during half-time about the campaign, as well as FIDO’s efforts to help us carry it out in the Portland area. We are thankful to all those who donated to help make our campaign a success.

Take a look at some game day photos.
